A HISTORY OF OUR CAMPS (2004-2015)

Coach Gilchrist and Coach Zanni began running their camps in the summer of 2004. The first year, they offered only a beginner camp, which was very well received. 25 girls and boys signed up for the week long camp and feedback provided by parents and campers was incredibly positive.  The following summer (2005), we offered our first Intermediate/Advanced Camp and had 35 campers.

In the next few years the camps exploded in popularity and were on their way to becoming the largest local high school camp in the Montgomery County area.  By 2006, the third year of the camps, over 100 volleyball players were attending the three weeks of camps.

From 2007-2015 Coach Gilchrist and Coach Zanni have offered three camps every summer and grown into one of the most popular and largest volleyball camps in the local area.    With three weeks of camp every summer and over 200 campers each year, the Gilchrist/Zanni camps have become a fun destination for players to improve their volleyball skills.

2016 Beginner Camp (SOLD OUT)

From 2016- through 2019 the Gilchrist-Zanni Volleyball Camps were among the most successful to date. The camps routinely sold out with many repeat campers each year!  By this point in time the camps had served over 2,500 campers.  At the end of 2019, Coach Gilchrist announced her retirement from the camps and teaching.  What started as a small beginner camp in 2014 had grown to the largest locally run volleyball camp in Montgomery County.  Though Coach "G" will be still be involved in some administrative functions with the camps, she will no longer be part of the day to day functioning of the camps.  We wish her well!

Starting in the summer of 2020, the camps were renamed Coach Zanni's Volleyball Camps as Coach Zanni ran the camps by himself.   Starting in the summer of 2023 Paige (Sekerak) Lewis became a camp Co-Director and will eventually take over running the camps full time.  The rich history of the camps will continue on.
